Tips and Tricks

How to Charge Your Lexie B2 Plus Hearing Aids Powered by Bose

It’s as easy as plugging the charging case into a wall outlet and putting your Lexies inside. The blinking lights inside the case will let you know they’re charging and in about three hours, they’ll be fully charged and ready for a full day of use.

The new charging case contains its own battery, offering one extra charge for your Lexie B2 Plus hearing aids Powered by Bose, giving you up to 18 additional hours of usage. All you have to do is place each hearing aid in its designated slot – blue on the left, red on the right) – and within three hours, you will be enjoying a new world of sound – all without the need to plug into a wall outlet. Here are detailed steps to follow:

  • Make sure your hearing aids are dry before you charge them to avoid any damage.
  • Insert the USB-C charging cable into a suitable adaptor plugged into the wall outlet socket.
  • Identify the other end of the USB-C cable.
  • Insert this end into the USB-C connection on the rear of the Lexie B2 Plus hearing aids Powered by Bose case.
  • Insert your Lexie B2 Plus hearing aids Powered by Bose into their case making sure to match the correct hearing aid to the correct port (red is for the right ear and blue is for the left ear).
  • The back of your hearing aids should face toward you.
  • You should feel your hearing aids snap magnetically into place.

Your hearing aids will now begin charging which you can monitor through the charging status lights on each side of the case. When the white lights stop flashing, your hearing aids are fully charged.

Replacing Your Receiver-in-Canal (RIC) Wire

At some point, you’ll need to replace your receiver-in-canal (RIC) wire, whether you’re cleaning your hearing aids or you need to replace the RIC wire entirely. We thought we would put together a guide on how to properly remove and insert your RIC wire to get the most out of your Lexie B2 Plus hearing aids Powered by Bose.

How to replace your RIC wire:

  • Identify the RIC wire you want to remove.
  • Make sure you have the new RIC wire that corresponds with the same color as the RIC wire you’re removing (red is for the right ear and blue is for the left ear). You must use the correct wire for each hearing aid.
  • The RIC wire is firmly attached to the hearing aid body and might not easily disconnect. Gently insert your fingernail into the narrow space between your hearing aid and the plastic end of the RIC wire. Now lift the RIC wire out of place. Once disconnected, separate the two by pulling the RIC wire away from the hearing aid body.
  • Attach your new RIC wire to your hearing aid.
  • Remove the dome from your previous RIC wire and attach it to the new RIC wire.

Keeping Your Lexie B2 Plus Hearing Aids Powered by Bose Dry

It is important to keep your Lexie B2 Plus hearing aids Powered by Bose dry to prevent any unnecessary damage from moisture and to keep your hearing in tip-top shape.

  • Use the drying capsules provided with your Lexie B2 Plus hearing aids Powered by Bose and place them in an airtight container, along with your hearing aids. Let them dry overnight while you sleep.
  • If you need more drying capsules, you can replace them using the Lexie app – you can even use your Lexie Rewards® points instead of cash!
  • You can use similar types of drying crystals, such as those found in electronics packaging but you might need to replace them more often, and they may not be as effective.
  • Do NOT use an electronic hearing aid dryer as these can damage the internal components of your hearing aids.

Streaming for Android™

To stream from an Android device, you’ll need to ensure that your phone and hearing aids have been set up correctly. But first, you need to know if your Android phone is compatible with hearing aid call streaming. It turns out that not all Android phones support call streaming for hearing aids, or what is officially known as ASHA-compliance, meaning they support Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids functionality. To confirm your device is compatible with Android streaming for hearing aids, refer to our FAQs at LexieHearing.com. Unfortunately, Lexie cannot guarantee streaming compatibility with all Android devices.

Android streaming won’t be available for the following phones, despite being ASHA enabled, as their streaming quality falls below our performance standards:

  • All Google Pixel phones
  • Motorola G 5G 2023

Once you’ve confirmed your Android phone is ASHA-compliant, set up your hearing aids for streaming by following the steps below.

Download the Lexie App Update

You will need to update your Lexie app and download the update from the Google Play Store. To do so, follow these 5 easy steps:

  • Open the Google Play Store app,
  • At the top right, tap the profile icon,
  • Tap Manage apps & device,
  • Find the “Lexie” app,
  • Tap “Update”.

Connect your Hearing Aids to an Android™ Phone

Once you have set up your hearing aids, they should be paired to your smartphone and ready to stream phone calls.

If you are unable to stream phone calls, complete the following steps:

  1. Ensure Bluetooth® is turned on in the Settings screen of your smartphone, with sufficient battery life to stream phone calls.
  2. Open the Settings app on your phone,
  3. Go to the Bluetooth section.
  4. a) If you see B2 Plus device under the Paired Devices list, make sure it is connected. If it is not connected, select the device to connect it.
  5. b) If you see two Lexie B2 Plus devices under the Paired Devices list, select each to connect to them. Once both devices are connected, they should combine into a single connected device “B2 Plus hearing aids Powered by Bose”.
  6. c) If you do not see any Lexie Plus B2 device under the Paired Devices list, select the option to scan for Bluetooth devices. Your hearing aids should appear in the Available Devices section. Select each device from the list and accept any prompts given by your phone regarding Bluetooth pairing. Both options should now appear under the Paired Devices list. Follow step 5b to complete the connection.

Make and Receive Phone Calls

  • To make or receive a call, use your phone as you normally would from the screen on your phone.
  • Speak into your phone by holding your phone near your mouth. There is no need to hold the phone up to your ear or use the speakerphone function.
  • Should you want to change the phone call delivery mode from streaming to standard phone or speakerphone, press the “Speaker” or “Audio” icon on the phone screen and choose your preferred method.
  • While on a call, you can still adjust the World Volume, Treble/Bass, and Balance via your Lexie app.
  • You can also use the World Volume control buttons on the back of either hearing aid to adjust the volume of phone calls. Streaming will stop automatically when you end the call. However, your Lexie app will continue to stream commands to your hearing aids, provided the Bluetooth function remains enabled on your phone.

How to Stream Phone Calls for iOS®

Your Lexie B2 Plus self-fitting OTC hearing aids Powered by Bose are capable of streaming phone calls on iOS devices directly to your hearing aids, for added convenience. If you have just received your Lexie B2 Plus OTC hearing aids, when you pair them with your smartphone, streaming will automatically be enabled. If you’re having issues pairing your hearing aids and your smartphone, please follow the steps below.

Your iPhone® will have Bluetooth and your hearing aids need to be paired with it. If your hearing devices aren’t listed in Settings > Accessibility > Hearing Devices > MFi (hearing aids shown as “connected”) you need to connect them to your iPhone by following these steps:

  1. Ensure your hearing aids are fully charged and switched on before pairing.
  2. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth to ensure Bluetooth is turned on.
  3. Download the Lexie app, if you have not already done so.
  4. On your iPhone log in or register to the Lexie app.
  5. Follow the prompts in the app which will navigate you to your MFI Hearing Devices option.
  6. Tap on the name and/or model number of your hearing aid/s when it appears on the screen.
  7. Tap “Pair “to complete the connection. If you are pairing two hearing aids, you will receive two pairing requests. Your hearing aid will have a checkmark next to it once it is connected to your phone.
  8. Return to the Lexie app and complete the onboarding process.
  9. You will now hear your iPhone ringtone and message alerts directly through your hearing aids.

While music and media streaming is possible, the streaming function was not designed for this purpose and it will not be able to provide an optimal listening experience.

I’m having trouble getting the streaming to work. What should I do?

If you are having difficulty streaming from your smartphone to your hearing devices, these steps might help to resolve the issue.

  1. Check your phone settings. Your phone might be set to flight mode or Bluetooth might be disabled.
  2. Ensure your hearing aids are fully functional. By ensuring they are:
    • Charged
    • Not muted
    • Volume turned up to an audible/comfortable level
    • Sound outlet/wax guard clear of any blockage
  3. Switch Bluetooth off, give it a minute, and switch it back on.
  4. Switch your hearing aids off and back on again.
  5. Unpair your hearing aids from your smartphone. Switch your hearing aids off and switch them back on again before restarting the pairing process.
